Holden Gray Mullen passed away peacefully in his parents’ arms on December 15, 2020 ending his almost three-year battle with brain cancer. Holden was born on March 17, 2017, to parents Chad and Alex at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. Although he battled cancer for most of his life, Holden was a happy and playful boy who enjoyed chasing down cement mixers in his golf cart and hitting golf balls anywhere he could, inside and outside and even in his hospital bed. Holden also loved dancing and telling knock-knock jokes, but more than anything, in recent months, he enjoyed opening the many letters and packages that were sent to him by his many generous “fans” from TikTok. Holden was a funny boy with a captivating smile, a contagious laugh and is, without a doubt, enjoying the heavenly fairways.
Holden was the loving baby brother to his sisters, Ella and Ava, and his brother, Parker. Holden is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, Leonard and Barbara Mullen, his grandmother, Carmen Gironzini and will be united with his grandfather Luzgardo Suarez, who preceded him in death. Additionally, Holden is survived by his eight pets, including two dogs, two cats, a hamster, a fish, and his two beloved ducks, Cement Mixer and Cereal.
The family welcomes all to Holden’s visitation on December 21, 2020 at Fredrich-Jones Funeral Home from 8:30-10:30am, followed by a service at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Cal’s Angels, who the family has partnered with as part of Holden’s Warrior Wheels to provide wagons to children battling pediatric cancer.
